UEFA / LdC: Stadium partially closed for Atlético-Manchester City
UEFA has ordered the closure of part of Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg between Atlético and Manchester City, due to “discriminatory behavior” by some Spanish fans.
The Madrid club, defeated 1-0 in England in the first leg, will have to designate before the meeting the closed sector or sectors, “which must include at least 5,000 places”, specifies the disciplinary body of the European body.
In addition, the Madrid stands will have to display “a banner bearing the inscription #NoToRacism with the UEFA logo, adds the organization.
On Friday, UEFA opened a disciplinary investigation against the reigning Spanish champion because of the “discriminatory behavior” of his supporters during the first leg on April 5, as well as for “throwing projectiles”.
