Hobey Baker Award finalist Dryden McKay stopped 16 shots in his 38th win of the season for the Mavericks. Minnesota State did an excellent job of limiting the Golden Gophers’ scoring chances over the last two periods.
The Mavericks will take an 18-game winning streak into the championship game. The CCHA champions have not lost since Jan. 14.
Minnesota is still looking for its first national championship win since 2003. The Golden Gophers made it to the big game in 2014 before falling to Union.
