Moroccan-Spanish talks to strengthen cooperation between local elected officials
The strengthening of Moroccan-Spanish cooperation between local elected officials was the focus of a working visit to Spain on Monday by the president of the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Communal Councils (AMPCC), Mounir Laymouri.
According to an AMPCC statement, Mounir Laymouri held talks with the Secretary General of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), Carlos Daniel Casares Díaz, at the Federation’s headquarters in Madrid, on ways of cooperation in various areas of common interest, particularly the consolidation of the role of local elected representatives in sustainable development and the exchange of successful local experiences in territorial management and governance.
During this interview, the president of the AMPCC reviewed the novelties of the constitutional and legal framework of local authorities and gave an overview of the evolution of the system of decentralization and advanced regionalization in the Kingdom, indicates the press release. .
For his part, Carlos Daniel Casares Díaz stressed the importance of Moroccan-Spanish cooperation between local elected officials with regard to issues of local management and development, the statement reports.
In this sense, an invitation has been sent to the AMPCC to participate in the various sectoral activities and meetings organized by the Spanish federation and in the Ibero-American Congress scheduled for next October in Valladolid, Spain, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the creation of the FEMP.
The two officials emphasized, on this occasion, the need to coordinate views and positions within the various international bodies, as they agreed to strengthen cooperation and establish a legal agreement that will make it possible to optimize the cooperation mechanisms between the AMPCC and the FEMP.
