Wubben-Moy signs new Arsenal Women deal
Lotte Wubben-Moy says Arsenal is her “life” after signing a new contract with the Women’s Super League side.
The 23-year-old – who made her senior debut for the Gunners at the age of 16 in 2015 – has established herself as a key part of Jonas Eidevall’s squad as they look to chase down leaders Chelsea with four matches remaining in the WSL season.
Wubben-Moy said: “It feels amazing. This contract means so much more to me and to my family than just it being a football contract.
“It’s a commitment to the club and it’s a commitment to Arsenal, the community that it’s active in and to my life as a whole, because that’s what Arsenal is – it’s my life.”
Arsenal said that, as part of her new deal, Wubben-Moy has “committed to working closely with Arsenal in the community over the coming years to give back to the local area where she grew up and still lives”.
Eidevall described Wubben-Moy as one of the “most exciting” defenders in the country, adding: “Lotte has proven herself as an important player for us this season and so I’m delighted that she has extended her stay with the club.
“She is one of the most exciting young defenders in English football and I believe she has all the tools to continue her progression here at Arsenal.”
Wubben-Moy left Arsenal to spend time in the US playing college football with the North Carolina Tar Heels before returning to north London.
The 23-year-old made her second debut as a substitute during a 4-0 thrashing of rivals Tottenham in 2020, and has gone on to make 61 appearances for Arsenal.
Clare Wheatley, Arsenal’s head of women’s football, said: “We’re delighted that Lotte has committed her future to the club. Lotte knows this club inside out and we are all proud to see her establishing herself for both club and country.
“Her progression since rejoining us in 2020 has been impressive and we look forward to watching her continue to develop in the years to come.”
