The coach of Olympique de Marseille makes his mea culpa on Amine Harit
Amine Harit is a new man at Olympique de Marseille. Set aside at the start of the season following his average performances, the Moroccan international has shown what he is capable of in recent weeks, to the delight of his coach Jorge Sampaoli who regrets not having been able to exploit his talent more early.
At a press conference this Saturday, Jorge Sampaoli made his mea culpa on Amine Harit. The Olympique de Marseille coach expressed his regrets about the 24-year-old midfielder on his debut with the Phocaeans, saying he would have liked to take advantage of him long before.
“It is my responsibility for not having taken advantage of Amine at times. When we chose him, we knew what was expected of him and I didn’t have the patience to put up with some mistakes he made in some games and that took him away from the team. But I still think he is a player who can improve a lot. Very few players in the world create as many imbalances as he does.” he confessed, before slipping a message to Pablo Longoria concerning the future of the Atlas Lion within the Marseille formation.
“I think the same as when I brought him, I hope he stays for a long time. He is a type of player on the verge of extinction, there are not many of them. You should take advantage. I didn’t have the patience to enjoy him earlier, but now I hope to enjoy him more“said Jorge Sampaoli.
Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, Amine Harit has found the heights with Olympique de Marseille who could quickly make an offer to Schalke 04 who loaned him without an option to buy.
Under contract with the German club, leader in the second division, until 2024, Amine Harit is valued at 9 million euros by the specialized site Transfermarkt. The Moroccan could sign with OM for 6 million euros, if this materializes between the parties concerned.
