Manchester Area Police have opened an investigation into anonymous threats of a bomb at the home of Manchester United England international defender Harry Maguire, a spokesman for the player said on Thursday.
“Over the past 24 hours, Harry has received a serious threat targeting his family home,” the spokesperson said. “He told the police who are investigating it”he added.
Police confirmed in a statement that they were contacted on Wednesday “ about a bomb threat in the Wilmslow area”.
“No evacuation has been ordered, but as a preventive measure a police dog trained in explosives detection was brought to this address this afternoon, Thursday April 21, to conduct a search of the garden and surrounding area”she continued, adding that no suspicious object had been found.
The 29-year-old Maguire is having a difficult season, both collectively with the Red Devils and in terms of his individual performances.
Largely beaten (4-0) by Liverpool on Tuesday, in a match where Maguire started in defense, Manchester United has seriously compromised its chances of playing in the next Champions League.
