Operation Marhaba 2022: 32 ships mobilized across all shipping lines
The Ministry of Transport and Logistics indicated on Saturday that in anticipation of the launch of Operation Marhaba 2022, a total of 32 ships have been mobilized on all shipping lines linking Moroccan ports to Spanish, French and Italian ports. .
A press release from this department, published after the meeting of the Joint Moroccan-Spanish Transit Commission for Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE), specifies that the ships will have a total capacity of approximately 478,000 passengers and 123,000 cars. , through 571 weekly trips.
The maritime lines with Spain, which represents 95% of passenger traffic, will see the assignment of 23 ships, including 14 intended for passengers on the main line Tanger Med – Algeciras, in addition to two ships dedicated to the transport of goods ( trucks), the statement noted, adding that these ships provide 47 daily trips, with a capacity of around 40,000 passengers and 11,000 cars, an increase of 4% compared to 2019.
The reservation of tickets will also be adopted on all the maritime lines concerned by the Marhaba 2022 operation, including the two lines “Tangier Med/Algeciras” and “Tangier ville/Tarifa”, in order to stop the number of passengers and to take the necessary measures to ensure fluid traffic between the two shores, underlines the ministry.
According to the same source, Operation Marhaba is a priority for the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, which ensures the establishment of the conditions necessary for its success in coordination with the various parties, within the framework of the Moroccan Joint Maritime Commission. -Spanish, the National Commission in charge of the Marhaba operation, and the shipping companies involved in this operation.
