Morocco has had a difficult year, the rise in prices affects the whole world
The presidency of the government majority coalition held friday its monthly meeting, at the headquarters of the authenticity and modernity party (WFP), during which its leaders spoke on several subjects, in particular the rise in prices, the crisis that the country is currently going through, the protection of purchasing power or even the diplomatic advances of the Kingdom.
Regarding the price hike, Aziz Akhannouch, president of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), explained that “ this increase concerns all the countries of the world, especially after the pressure caused by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis», emphasizing that Morocco is a country « safe and has all the necessary products”.
Surrounded by the secretaries general of the PAM), Abdellatif Ouahbi, and of the Istiqlal, Nizar Baraka, Akhannouch affirmed that ” Morocco has had a difficult year, but recent rains have eased the crisis»appreciating the fact that prices did not rise during the first days of Ramadan, in addition to the availability of various products in the national market.
Regarding the opening of the spring session of Parliament, Akhannouch indicated that this return will be an opportunity to further consolidate the social state desired by King Mohammed VI, through the pursuit of many projects, noting that Morocco has the capacity to overcome the crisis, and that the government will continue to communicate with the press to provide citizens with the right information.
He also noted that the latter “ does not have a magic wand to solve problems in all sectors, but it has intervened to solve many crises “. Regarding the agricultural sector, the president of the RNI specified that “ wheat represents only 11% of the gross domestic product of agriculture”but ” there are other cultures“.
For his part, Abdellatif Ouahbi said that the current government suffers from a problem of time, stressing the existence of great ambitions, but the pressure of time, prices and international problems are frustrating elements.
The tractor boss confirmed that the government is still moving forward, noting that the current crisis is an opportunity to reform and transform the economy. Despite all the difficulties Morocco is experiencing, it remains an independent country that continues to attract investment, he added.
Regarding the return to parliament, Ouahbi noted that it is an opportunity to deepen discussions in a serious way instead of verbal confrontations, praising Morocco’s diplomatic steps and the victories won with Spain and Germany.
For his part, Nizar Baraka, pointed out that the government coalition is aware of the difficult situation that the country is going through due to the repercussions of the conflict in Ukraine and its impact on a global scale. However, he asserted, we are firmly committed to working to mitigate the impact of this situation on citizens and businesses”.
The SG of PI also observed that despite the crisis, the government has not taken any measures to reduce investments, saying that the government is mobilized to serve the citizens, especially the middle class and low-income categories, and the protect against fluctuations in current market conditions.
The country needs economic patriotism and the intervention of all actors to achieve positive results, he said, assuring that the government will continue to implement the reforms despite the difficulties and complexity of this stage, noting that the majority is mobilizing to protect small and medium-sized businesses.
