The Good Country Index (CGI) which only measures the external impact of each country on the world has ranked Morocco in 55th place out of 169 countries in its 2022 ranking just behind the Russian Federation.
As for the GCI, which was founded by the Briton Simon Anholt, who over the past twenty years has advised Heads of State and Government in some sixty countries, this is an index that measures what each country contributes to the common good of humanity and the planet and what it takes away from it, in relation to its size.
Using a wide range of data from the UN and other international organisations, each country is given a scorecard to show at a glance if it is a creditor to humanity, d ‘a burden on the planet or something in between. The GCI is part of a series of projects launched by Simon Anholt in 2014 to start a global debate on the real purpose of countries.
The Good Country Index summarizes 35 measurement points highlighting the contribution of countries in seven different categories: science and technology, culture, international peace and security, world order, planet and climate, prosperity and equality, as well as health and well-being or happiness it is at all like. The Kingdom owes its second place as the best country in the Arab world behind Tunisia (47th) and third place as best country on the continent, South Africa (44), to its leading position in terms of contribution to international peace and security, but also to its 34 th place in the world for prosperity and equality and because it ranks 46th in science and technology.
This leadership for peace and international security can be explained, according to the CGI, by “Morocco’s contribution to UN peacekeeping thanks in particular to the sending of its troops to prevent violent international conflicts.
According to this source, Morocco contributes more than the average to international peace and security. The report also states that he managed to meet his commitment to spend on the UN peacekeeping budget. Internet security is no exception,
Morocco is more engaged than the average country in cybersecurity at the global level. For the report, Morocco contributes more than the average in “open trade”, “United Nations volunteers abroad”, as well as outflows of direct investment abroad. It also contributes, in the average, against money laundering. Otherwise for the rest there is nothing to be proud of since in two parts it exceeds the hundredth place respectively in terms of the world order or it becomes “one can do better“ manifest and with regard to the culture where it is hundredth.
It carries the three figures at the level of Health and Well-being at the 94th place and disappoints in particular in the chapter planet and climate (73) nevertheless a field of predilection. Morocco is therefore the 2nd country in the Mena region behind Tunisia and ahead of Israel (59), the United Arab Emirates (65), Egypt (75). Algeria acts as a dunce in the 136thth place but still ahead of Libya (166), Mauritania (168) and last Syria. At the top of the ranking of “good countries” is Sweden, followed in the top 5 by Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Finland.
