LIVE: Broncos rocked by Dogs’ double-strike
The Broncos are in the rare position of coming into a match as favourites, but coach Kevin Walters doesn’t believe it’ll cause a lapse in effort.
“There hasn’t been a shift in attitude from any of our training weeks,” he told Darren Lockyer on Nine’s coverage.
“We just need to start with our defence tonight. I thought we competed really well against Penrith in the first 40 (minutes), then had some things go against us. Tonight’s all about our discipline and making sure our defence is right.”
Walters also touched on the decision to start his son, Billy, at the hooker spot ahead of Cory Paix.
“I just feel he’s a bit older and a bit more mature and it’ll give Paixey a little bit more breathing space, so when he comes on he can really inject himself in the game,” he said.
“That’s a part of his strike, his ability to work well around the ruck. If we can get him on when the other side is a bit gassed it might be better for him.”
