End clap for Gilles Simon. The French tennis player, sixth in the world, decided to hang up the racket, and announced his retirement at the height of his career and at barely 37 years old.
The one who is considered one of the best French tennis players of the 21st century, gives himself until the end of the current season, and follows in the footsteps of another great of the courts, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who also announced his retirement last April.
“It was a magical, wonderful and extraordinary adventure. It will stop at the end of the year. Huge Thanks to everyone who made it possible,” tweeted Simon, who spent 20 years on the ATP Tour, where he won a total of 14 titles.
And to add: “There is no sadness, no regret. Just the will to put everything I have left. On every match, until the end”.
