Djoker’s classy response to GOAT debate
Novak Djokovic has given a classy response when asked if he’s the greatest tennis player of all time.
In his speech earlier, Stefanos Tsitsipas proclaimed Djokovic the “greatest that has ever held a tennis racquet”.
On the Wide World of Sports’ panel following his win, the now 10-time Australian Open Champion said he was “honoured” to be in the discussion.
”First, I have to say I am so honoured and privileged to be in this discussion. Second, I truly honour and admire the history and all the greats that paved the way for all of us to be here where we are,” he said.
“I feel like it’s difficult to have a conversation about this because every generation is different.
“You know, 30 or 40 years ago, you played three out of four slams on the grass with wooden racquets.
“Technology has advanced so much. Things have changed. [It’s] hard to compare generations.
“But I feel like I gave my best and I’m still doing that.
“So if the people see me as one of the greatest players to ever play the game, I’m very grateful.”
When the world rankings are updated tomorrow, Djokovic will once again be No.1.
