Blue Jays place Teoscar Hernandez on 10-day IL, recall Katoh Gosuke Katoh

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed outfielder Teoscar Hernandez on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.
Hernandez had an MRI after leaving Wednesday’s game against the New York Yankees with left side discomfort. After taking a big cut on a swing in the sixth inning, Hernandez held his left side. He got back in the batter’s box and hit a grounder, holding his left side again while making his way slowly down the baseline.

Hernandez slashed .296/.346/.524 with 32 home runs and 116 RBIs last season. The 29-year-old was off to a good start this year, hitting .333 with one homer and three RBIs in six games.
The team recalled Goshue Katoh from triple-A Buffalo after he was optioned on April 10 in order to make room for Bradley Zimmer to join the team. Katoh has not appeared in a game this season with the Blue Jays.
