After taking a big cut on a swing in the sixth inning, Hernandez held his left side. He got back in the batter’s box and hit a grounder, holding his left side again while making his way slowly down the baseline.
Hernandez slashed .296/.346/.524 with 32 home runs and 116 RBIs last season.
The 29-year-old was off to a good start this year, hitting .333 with one homer and three RBIs in six games.
