Barcelona vs. Eintracht Frankfurt live score, updates, highlights from Europa League quarterfinals

Barcelona heads home with work to do as the Catalan side takes on Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their Europa League quarterfinal series.
The two teams sit level on a 1-1 aggregate scoreline after a Ferran Torres goal cancelled out an opener from Ansgar Knauff one week ago. Barcelona was out-shot by Frankfurt in the first leg 16-7 despite holding 67 percent possession, and Xavi was forced to defend his team’s less-than-stellar performance away from home.
Now, in the friendly confines of the Camp Nou, there are no more excuses for the Barcelona boss as the La Liga side looks to push into the semifinals of the competition and remain competing in Europe.
While Barcelona has surged in La Liga play, now second in the standings with 14 matches unbeaten, European play has proven more challenging. The club was knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage, and has been held to a draw in three of its five Europa League games.
Today, the club’s Europa League survival hinges on this 90-minute performance.

1:02 p.m.: While Barcelona may look to the remaining Champions League sides with jealousy and wish it were still alive in Europe’s top club competition, Xavi is using the Europa League as a motivating factor for his players. Barcelona have never won this title in club history.

Barcelona vs. Eintracht Frankfurt lineups
Xavi will need the full depth of his squad for this match, as the home team could be missing up to eight players. Confirmed absences include Samuel Umtiti, Memphis Depay,Moussa Wague,Ansu Fati,Sergi Roberto,Sergino Dest, and Dani Alves. Gerard Pique is also a major doubt for the game.
Despite the absentees, Xavi should still have a strong team to pick from in attack and midfield, though the defense may be weaker than the home fans would prefer. Clement Lenglet gave away a penalty at the weekend, only a minute after coming onto the pitch against Levante, but if Pique misses out he’ll have a chance at atonement.
Barcelona predicted lineup (4-3-3): Ter Stegen (GK) — Araujo, Lenglet, Garcia, Alba — Gavi, De Jong, Pedri — Traore, Aubameyang, Torres
Barcelona subs (9): (Lineups released one hour prior to kickoff)
MORE: Why is Barcelona playing in the Europa League?
Manager Oliver Glasner has comparatively fewer injuries to deal with in his squad. Tuta‘s red card in the first leg will see him miss the game in Catalonia, and will necessitate a change at the back. He’s one of three guaranteed absentees, with forward Ragnar Ache and backup goalkeeper Diant Ramaj also ruled out.
A change may also be needed in midfield, with Djibril Sow a doubt after coming off injured at the weekend. Like Christopher Lenz, it’s not certain whether he’ll make the game or not.
Eintracht Frankfurt predicted lineup (3-4-3): Trapp (GK) — Hinteregger, Hasebe, Ndicke — Knauff, Jakic, Rode, Kostic — Lindstrom, Borre, Kamada
Eintracht Frankfurt subs (9): (Lineups released one hour prior to kickoff)

Barcelona vs. Eintracht Frankfurt betting lines, picks & prediction
Unsurprisingly, Barcelona are the favorites with the sportsbooks. With the series level, they’ll be expected to take it away from the German side with the second leg played at home.
Despite the number of injuries that Xavi’s side has picked up, the absences for the visitors are likely to have a greater impact. With injuries in defense also making Barca potentially more vulnerable at home than they usually are, the markets clearly sense the possibility of goals in this game.
Barcelona should see this tie through, as the club is playing well despite the European challenges. The home crowd will be a boost, and there should be no struggles to put the game away.
