Maple Leafs sign defenceman Axel Rindell to two-year contract
The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Axel Rindell to a future two-year contract with an average annual value of $838,750, the team announced Friday.
Rindell will join the Toronto Marlies on a professional tryout for the remainder of the 2021-22 regular season and playoffs.
Rindell, 21, posted one goal and 11 assists in 26 games with Karpat of the Finnish Elite League this season. Through 136 career regular-season games in Finland, split between Karpat and Jukurit HC, he has 14 goals and 51 assists.
Internationally, Rindell represented Finland at the 2021 world championships.
Rindell was selected by Toronto in the sixth round (177th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
