Murray to play in singles for Team GB at Paris Olympics
Andy Murray has been named to play singles at his fifth Olympic Games, with Team GB confirming their line-up for Paris 2024.
The Scot, a two-time gold medal winner at the Olympics in 2012 and 2016, has been named alongside Olympic debutants Jack Draper, Cam Norrie and Dan Evans.
Katie Boulter will also make her Olympic debut in Paris competing in the women’s single tournament, but Emma Raducanu has turned down a wildcard entry.
The 21-year-old is ranked too low to qualify due to her injury-enforced time away from the sport but was reportedly offered one of two places by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) reserved for former Grand Slam champions.
“I think she feels this isn’t going to be the right timing for her for this summer,” said Iain Bates, head of GB’s Olympic tennis team, told the BBC.
