LIVE: Sharks workhorse axed after unlucky NSW debut
Andrew Johns has expressed his disappointment at the unavailability of Victor Radley after he debuted for England at the Rugby League World Cup in 2022.
“Every year it breaks me, Victor (Radley). What are you doing Victor? I know he plays for England,” he said on Nine’s Sunday Footy Show.
“He’s ideal, you just put him out there and wind him up, go on, go and do your job.”
Former Blues coach Brad Fittler added the utility value of Radley makes it disappointing for the state.
“It’s a shame … you look at Canterbury and everyone questioned their versatility with Gus, he brought all the players in and we’ve had a lot of injuries this year, the game’s speeding up,” he said.
“Victor now plays five-eighth, hooker, edge, back row, he can pretty much cover comfortably five or six positions.”
“Can you imagine the starting middles of Payne Haas, Cam Murray and Victor Radley?,” Johns added.
“Big minutes, quick play the balls, plenty of punch, anyway that’s my dream.”
