War in Ukraine: Pope calls for an “Easter truce”
Pope Francis on Sunday called for an “Easter truce” in Ukraine “to achieve peace through genuine negotiations”.
“Let an Easter truce begin, but not to reload the weapons and resume the fight. No. A truce to achieve peace through real negotiations,” he said.
Last Sunday, on his return from his trip to Malta, the pope also expressed his “availability” to contribute to peace in Ukraine and said he was ready to go to kyiv.
