Timberwolves rally past Clippers in play-in to advance to NBA playoffs
The Minnesota Timberwolves booked a spot in the NBA playoffs for just the second time in 18 seasons with a come-from-behind 109-104 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday.
Despite Karl-Anthony Towns fouling out with more than seven minutes to play, and being generally ineffective when he was on the floor, the Timberwolves used a big run in the final frame to pull away from the Clippers. With the win, the Timberwolves will compete in the playoffs for the first time since 2017-18.
The Timberwolves will be the seventh seed and face the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round, which begins on the weekend. The Clippers have not been eliminated yet and will host a second play-in game Friday against the winner of Wednesday’s game between the New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs.
Earlier Tuesday, the Brooklyn Nets defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East play-in tournament.
