Texans take Canadian WR John Metchie III in second round of NFL Draft

The Houston Texans selected Canadian receiver John Metchie III in the second round (44th overall) of the NFL Draft on Friday night.
The Texans traded up with the Cleveland Browns to get the pick.
Metchie, who played his college ball at Alabama, tore his ACL in the latter part of the 2021 NCAA season and missed the College Football Playoff.
The product of Brampton, Ont., had a team-high 96 catches for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns.
Metchie decided to opt for the draft rather than return for his senior year with the Crimson Tide.
Metchie was the first Canadian to be selected in this year’s NFL Draft.
