Study to stop issuing driving license to patients with mental health

The Ministry of Interior is coordinating with the Ministry of Health to inspect the data of people who are not qualified to obtain driving licenses and weapon licenses.

According to local media Al-Anbaa report, authorities will create an automatic link between the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Health to connect the data of Kuwait Center for Mental Health and the Addiction Center. Any person with a record of Mental Health or Addiction will be marked as not qualified to obtain driver’s licenses and weapons licenses.

This step aims to maintain security in the country by not granting weapons licenses to people with serious and severe mental illnesses and addicts, as well as the safety of life on the roads and reducing the number of accidents by not granting them driving licenses, it added.

This issue is still under study and will be implemented after approval.
