Report: Canadian Shaedon Sharpe set to declare for NBA Draft
Kentucky guard Shaedon Sharpe will declare for the 2022 NBA Draft, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports.
A freshman, Sharpe did not play for the Wildcats in 2022 after coming to school for the second semester, though head coach John Calipari insisted that Sharpe would “prepared to lead” Kentucky next season.
The London, Ont. native was the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2022, but decided to reclassify and enroll early at Kentucky, which now makes him eligible for the 2022 draft.
However, despite the April 22 deadline to enter the draft, players are eligible to withdraw their name if they have not signed with a team or an agent before June 1.
Sharpe attended Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kan. for his sophmore year of high school, and after limited production moved to Dream City Christian in Glendale, Ariz., before arriving in Lexington.
On the international side, Sharpe won silver with Canada at the 2019 U16 FIBA Americas Championship in Brazil.
