Palestinian supermodel Gigi Hadid slams Tel Aviv terror attack
Vocally anti-Israel supermodel Gigi Hadid on Saturday criticized last week’s deadly terror attack in Tel Aviv as detrimental to the Palestinian national cause and a disappointment to Palestinians who want peace.
Hadid, who has a Palestinian father, posted a message to her Instagram account after a West Bank Palestinian gunman killed three Israelis and injured several others in a terror spree Thursday night.
“I would like to say that terrorism goes against the true message of the Free Palestine Movement,” she wrote to her 73 million followers.
“What happened in Tel Aviv is a tragedy; and is disappointing to Palestinians who want peace and fairness for all — regardless of religion, race, or politics.
“Innocent Israelis don’t deserve to die. This does not help anything. It is not the answer,” Hadid said.
She also offered condolences to the families of those who were killed.
Hadid, and her sister Bella, also a model, have previously had harsh words for Israel on social media.
Last month, Gigi Hadid compared Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to Israel’s control of the West Bank.
“I am pledging to donate my earnings from the Fall 2022 shows to aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine,” she wrote.
Gigi, the elder sister, who has featured on over 30 international Vogue covers, has in the past written to her followers that “One cannot advocate for racial equality, LGBT & women’s rights, condemn corrupt & abusive regimes and other injustices yet choose to ignore the Palestinian oppression.”
Tomer Morad and Eytam Magini, two childhood friends both aged 27 and originally from Kfar Saba, were killed when the gunman opened fire on a bar in Tel Aviv on Thursday night.
Barak Lufan, a 35-year-old father of three who was critically wounded in the attack, later died of his wounds.
Ten people were injured in the attack at the Ilka bar on Dizengoff Street, six of whom are still hospitalized. Three are listed as in moderate condition, and three are being treated for light injuries.
Ra’ad Hazem, the terrorist who carried out the shooting attack, was shot dead after being discovered by security forces early Friday following a massive manhunt overnight.
It was the fourth deadly terror attack Israel suffered in the past few weeks, following assaults in Bnei Brak, Beersheba and Hadera.
