MSPS: No case of acute hepatitis of unknown etiology in Morocco

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection said on Friday that it was closely monitoring the epidemiological situation of acute hepatitis of unknown etiology, since the first week of April and as soon as the World Health Organization (WHO) has been informed of the first cases in several children in the United Kingdom.
In a press release, the ministry specifies that it is also monitoring the global epidemiological situation linked to the disease within the framework of the health vigilance system at the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations (CNOUSP), as well as all the recommendations issued to this regard by the WHO, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control and the UK Health Security Agency.
So far, the ministry added, the national epidemiological surveillance system has not recorded any change in the usual number of hepatitis cases nationwide, nor any cases similar to the above-mentioned cases.
On April 5, the WHO was informed of cases of severe acute hepatitis of unknown etiology in children under 10 in the UK. Other cases were then identified in Europe and North America. Based on currently available information and data, WHO has called on all countries to conduct thorough epidemiological investigations and identify suspected cases.
