Moroccan Benjamin Bouchouari joins AS Saint-Étienne
Moroccan Benjamin Bouchouari has joined AS Saint-Étienne from Dutch club SV Roda, the French second division football club announced on Tuesday.
The attacking midfielder, who has already worn the colors of the Moroccan under-23s, has signed a contract which runs until June 2025, specifies the French club.
Quoted by the club portal, the 20-year-old said he was “very happy to join AS Saint-Étienne and to take a new step in my career. I feel good, I can’t wait to take my first steps on the pitch and discover this new environment”.
Trained in Belgium, notably in the training centers of Waasland-Beveren, Anderlecht and Genk, Bouchouari left his native country to head for the Netherlands.
Passed through the youth categories of Willem II and Fortuna Sittard, he finally revealed himself to everyone with the jersey of Roda JC, resident of the Dutch second division.
With 65 games played in “Keuken Kampioen Divisie”, he was notably voted best hope of his championship during the last exercise.
With the Moroccan U23 team, he notably found the net during the friendly victory against Mauritania (4-1), last June at the Mohammed VI National Center in Maâmoura (near Salé).
