More than 300 MDH to support professionals in the sector
“A total of 307 million dirhams (MDH) has been released to date, for the benefit of road transport professionals, as part of the support that the government has granted them due to soaring fuel prices”, said Tuesday the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil.
“A total of 91 million dirhams was paid in the form of bank money orders and 216 million dirhams in the form of bank transfers”explained the minister in response to oral questions in the House of Councillors, noting that the government has decided to provide this support “to maintain economic activity, avoid any disruption in the transport ecosystem and reduce the effects of the crisis on the purchasing power of citizens”.
He also noted that this measure has allowed the movement of travel to continue in the various regions of the Kingdom during this situation, marked by an unprecedented rise in oil prices on an international scale and “which has had repercussions on the price of fuel at the local level, leading professionals to express their inability to honor their commitments vis-à-vis their customers, at the national or international level”.
Mohamed Abdeljalil stressed that this support should benefit nearly 180,000 vehicles, adding that in order to facilitate the process of obtaining it and accelerate its pace, the ministry has put in place in coordination with the services of the Department of the Head of Government and the Ministries of the Interior and of the Economy and Finances, a digital platform for submitting applications and their follow-up by professionals.
He reported the registration of more than 78,000 requests concerning more than 120,000 vehicles, noting that these requests are divided between 50,000 goods transport trucks, 33,500 large taxis, nearly 20,000 small taxis, 10,000 buses for transporting personnel , nearly 3,300 tourist transport cars and buses and nearly 300 vehicles distributed between rural areas, urban buses and breakdown services.
The official also affirmed that hydrocarbons are for road transport companies the main component of the cost of transport with a percentage oscillating between 35% and 70%, of the total expenses of the company, and this according to the type of vehicles. used, distances travelled, transport conditions and fuel prices.
