Masters live golf scores, results, highlights from Thursday’s Round 1 leaderboard
The 2022 Masters Tournament, the first and most prestigious of golf’s four majors, is finally back.
The Masters is appointment viewing regardless of the field, but the simple inclusion of Tiger Woods — who on Tuesday confirmed he would compete after missing last year’s event following a February car accident — makes this year’s competition that much more enticing.
Woods will tee off at 10:34 a.m. ET alongside Louis Oosthuizen and Joaquin Niemann. How he competes — he has only missed one weekend cut in his Masters history — will be a topic of great interest. But there’s more to this year’s Masters than Tiger, imposing as he may be on this year’s competition.
There’s also Hideki Matsuyama, who in 2021 became the first golfer of Asian descent to win the Masters. He will tee off on Thursday alongside Justin Thomas and amateur James Piot. Curiously, Matsuyama is not among the top five golfers oddsmakers have listed to win at Augusta this week: Those are Jon Rahm (+900),Scottie Scheffler (+1200), Thomas and Cameron Smith (+1400) and Dustin Johnson (+1600).
