Liverpool’s latest signing: Club confirms new appointment to keep the Reds in top shape
Liverpool have made another key addition behind the scenes, with the appointment of Clare Farrell as the new lead performance nutritionist for the first-team squad.
While fans focus on big-name transfers, it’s these quieter, off-pitch signings that often go unnoticed but play a crucial role in the team’s success.
Following the shift from Jurgen Klopp to new manager Arne Slot, the club has seen a significant overhaul in its backroom staff.
As part of this transformation, Liverpool brought in Chris Black as their lead strength and conditioning coach earlier this year. Now, Clare Farrell joins the team, stepping into an important position to oversee player nutrition and recovery strategies.

What Clare Farrell brings on the table for Liverpool?
Farrell arrives at Liverpool with an impressive resume. Having spent over three years with Munster Rugby and a stint with West Ham’s women’s team, she knows a thing or two about keeping athletes in peak condition.
Her new role will see her creating tailored nutrition programs for players, ensuring that their diets are optimized for performance, recovery, and overall health.
“Farrell will oversee nutrition strategies at the club to support the players’ health, performance, and recovery around training and matches,” Liverpool confirmed in a statement. She’ll also be working hand-in-hand with the club’s chefs, both at the AXA Training Centre and during away games, to provide meals suited to the unique demands of each player.
With Mona Nemmer, Liverpool’s long-serving head of nutrition, still on the books but reportedly on leave due to pregnancy, Farrell’s arrival couldn’t have come at a better time. Nemmer, who came to Anfield from Bayern Munich under Klopp’s leadership, helped revolutionize the team’s approach to nutrition, but her absence left a gap that needed filling.
Now with Farrell on board, Liverpool’s nutrition department is in safe hands. Whether it’s making sure Salah is fueled for those lung-busting runs or helping Darwin Nunez recover after a tough Champions League night, Farrell’s input will be vital to the Reds staying in top shape. Because let’s be honest, you can’t conquer the Premier League on an empty stomach!
