Rugby league Immortal Andrew Johns has questioned why Braden Hamlin-Uele was allowed to remain on the field following a controversial high shot on Kelma Tuilagi.

Tuilagi was left on the turf while struggling to get up on his feet after suffering what appeared to be a high shot from Hamlin-Uele.

Hamlin-Uele was placed on report, with the Tigers receiving a penalty.

But after Eels prop Junior Paulo was sent to the sin bin for a high shot during Parramatta’s win over the Titans on Saturday, Johns questioned why Hamlin-Uele wasn’t also issued marching orders from the referee.

“Howcome he stays on and Junior Paulo went to the sin bin [on Saturday]?” said Johns in commentary for Nine.

Brad Fittler added: “It was [ruled] high contact. So the right arm comes around and collects Kelma Tuilagi on the chin.

“He (referee) said high contact. A shoulder charge and you’re in the sin bin and you’ve got two automatically just about.”

Fortunately, Tuilagi passed his HIA and returned to the field.
