Live M62 traffic news as three lanes shut and huge queues after serious crash

There are huge queues on the M62 this morning after a serious accident between junction 26 and junction 27.

Traffic management system Inrix is reporting that three lanes are closed between the junction at Chain Bar, which connects to the M1, and junction 27 at Gildersome which connects to the M621.

Inrix says: “Three lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M62 Eastbound from J26 M606 J1 (Chain Bar) to J27 M621 (Gildersome). Lanes two, three and four (of four) are closed. Traffic is also queuing on the opposite was due to onlookers.”

The severity of the accident is not yet known but a live feed from Highways England shows traffic gridlocked on the carriageway.
