Kings prospect Carter George scores goalie goal for OHL’s Attack
With the Owen Sound Attack leading the Peterborough Petes 3-1 with just over a minute and a half remaining in the third period, Carter George took his shot at history — and made it.
Owen Sound’s 18-year-old netminder made a glove save off a shot from the wing, and with the Petes’ empty net, George wasted no time putting the puck onto the ice, sending it down to the other end and into the open cage for a goalie goal.
George’s Attack teammates swarmed him in the crease before the Thunder Bay, Ont., native took his trip to the bench for high fives.
Owen Sound held on for the 4-1 win in a game that George made 36 saves.
A second-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2024 draft, George entered Thursday night’s contest with a 4-7-4 record, a 3.23 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.
George has spent parts of the last three seasons with Owen Sound and served as Team Canada’s goalie at the 2024 U18 World Championships, helping the team go undefeated and win gold.
