Jets fans beside themselves after Mike Williams scores game-winner for Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers picked up an impressive 28-27 victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 10, as Mike Tomlin’s squad stormed back from a 24-14 deficit in the second half and are now 7-2 on the season.
With this victory, Pittsburgh has sole possession of first place in the AFC North but will host the 7-3 Baltimore Ravens next weekend in a blockbuster matchup.
The Steelers’ offense was extremely inconsistent on Sunday but came up big when it mattered most and ran a balanced offensive attack. Quarterback Russell Wilson led a splendid game-winning drive with under six minutes remaining and found new Steeler Mike Williams for a 32 yard go-ahead touchdown with 2:22 left in the final quarter.

Williams played just a handful of snaps in Week 10 but made the biggest play of the season for the Steelers in his debut. The former top-ten pick was traded to Pittsburgh from the New York Jets during Tuesday’s deadline, as general manager Omar Khan surrendered a 2025 fifth-round pick for Williams’ services, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Steelers fans were elated to see their new acquisition come up clutch in a key situation, but Jets fans couldn’t believe what they were watching.

Williams’ departure from New York wasn’t pretty, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers called out the veteran for running the wrong route after a crushing defeat to the Buffalo Bills in Week 6. New York traded for superstar wide receiver Davante Adams just days after, leaving the former Chargers’ future with the Jets uncertain.
Williams discussed his short and tumultuous tenure with New York on Wednesday during his first press conference as a Steeler and pointed to a lack of chemistry with Rodgers as a big factor for his failures with the team.
“Going there after the ACL, not having OTAs or training camp to get the chemistry right … [Rodgers] is real detailed,” Williams explained. “He likes what he likes. Me not being able to transition in as quick is probably what went wrong.”
Things didn’t go too well for Williams in New York, but his Steelers career is off to a fantastic start.
