“I made the right choice to choose Morocco as my national team”

With the approach of the 2022 World Cup which will take place in Qatar, Selim Amallah is more impatient than ever to represent the colors of Morocco during this competition. Guest of the podcast “Between the Lines” of SudInfo, the Moroccan international returned to his choice of Morocco and spoke of his season rich in emotions within Standard de Liège.
Born in Belgium to a Moroccan father, Selim Amallah chose to represent Morocco in 2019 taking his first steps under the era of Vahid Halilhodzic, during the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder is likely to attend the first World Cup of his career. One match in particular will be special for the Moroccan, that against the Red Devils. Indeed, Morocco is housed in group F with Belgium, Croatia and Canada.
“The match against Belgium is going to be a great duel, I can’t wait to be there! I made the right choice to choose Morocco as my national team.”did he declare.
Regarding his season at Standard de Liège, Amallah has a mixed record, with some tension at the management level which has apparently affected the player and his teammates.
“It’s been a very complicated season, whether for me, for my teammates or for the club. It is clearly a season that I want to forget. The atmosphere in the group was good, everything was going well between us. But we heard a lot of things at the administrative level. When a club does not turn at the top (Editor’s note: the management), it is reflected on the ground “he said, before saying that he is now focused on the Moroccan selection and that he was not yet thinking about his future.
“Personally, I am already focused on the aftermath, with the national team which will arrive. Time will tell where I will be next season. At the end of last season it was already the right time for me to leave but I didn’t have the chance because the club wouldn’t let me go. And I knew it was going to be one season too many,” he says.
