How many points did Bronny James score today? Full stats, results, highlights from Lakers and Heat Summer League game

Bronny James is the marquee name in the California leg of NBA Summer League. After his first performance as a professional — a four-point, two-rebound, two-assist showing in a blowout loss to the Kings — one could understand fans feeling a bit underwhelmed.
The second-round pick struggled to find a rhythm under the thumb of Sacramento’s standout defense. He wasn’t alone, either. Fellow newcomer Dalton Knecht was similarly held captive as the two Lakers rookies combined for 5-of-21 shooting from the field.
James wasn’t able to eclipse his opening-game jitters with a bounce back, either. The 19-year-old fell victim to a sore knee, missing out on L.A.’s second match of the Summer League calendar, another shellacking, this time at the hands of the Warriors.
The Lakers will be hoping three proves a magic number Wednesday when they take on Kel’el Ware and the Heat.
Things aren’t all doom and gloom for James, who can very well establish himself as a legitimate NBA talent by committing to the fundamentals. Scoring tends to be a mixed bag among young prospects, particularly on the Summer League stage. Rather, as Mavericks coach Jared Dudley explained, the spotlight is focused on whether players can make an impact in other aspects of the floor, even if their playing time is limited.
Given James’ influences — Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Davion Mitchell — he’ll be looking to do just that against Miami.

It was an uneven offensive showing for James in the first half. He made a pair of decent cuts to the basket, finishing over length with a reverse layup early in the first quarter and absorbing contact to draw a foul during the second frame. A three-point attempt rattled in-and-out for the Lakers rookie, who spent much of the 20 minutes playing off-ball to former St. Mary’s guard Tommy Kahse.
James’ true impact came on the other end for the floor, where he was relentless. He deflected multiple passes away during the frame and showcased his advanced skillset navigating screens and staying in front of opposition guards. Rarely did his matchups find space and time to put up uncontested shots when James was around.

He really shined on the defensive end, however, ripping away his opposition marker’s effort before flicking a pass to Colin Castleton to set up a chance at the free throw line.
