France-Presidential: Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen qualified for the second round
President Emmanuel Macron, a candidate for re-election, and Marine Le Pen came out ahead in the votes of the first round of the presidential election in France. They are qualified for the second round. Jean-Luc Mélenchon came third.
Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen obtained 28.5% and 23.5% of the votes respectively, according to estimates made by Ipsos-Sopra Steria. These are not the official results.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon is ranked third with 20.1% of the vote. Please note that these results are not the official results. The final percentages will only be known in the evening.
The polls commission announced that “no reliable estimate of the results, made from the first counts of ‘test offices’, is likely to be established before 7:45 p.m. (21:45 GMT) at the earliest”.
The rate of abstention of abstention meanwhile has been revised downwards, according to the latest figures which estimated it at 26.2%.
