As part of the 7th edition of the National Handicrafts Week (SNA), the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor launched this Monday the regional fair of the craftsmanship in the Casablanca-Settat region.
Organized by the Chamber of Crafts of Casablanca-Settat in partnership with the Ministry, the Maison de l’Artisan and the Region of Casablanca-Settat, this fair aims to diversify the sources of income of craftsmen by allowing them to exhibit and sell their products. More generally, these regional fairs aim to relaunch the commercial dynamic at the national level, to encourage production and to promote the creation of jobs, especially among young people and craftswomen.
It knows the participation of more than 127 craftsmen and craftswomen from the prefectures and provinces of the Casablanca-Settat Region, Fez, Azilal, Demnate, Taroudant, Marrakech, Tiflet, Rabat and Errachidia and representing several sectors such as weaving and traditional sewing, brassware, saddlery, ceramic pottery, traditional zellige and decorative stone, embroidery, jewelry, leather, glass dyeing, engraving and art paintings .
On the sidelines of this event, several royal Wissams were distributed to craftsmen who have contributed to preserving the cultural and intangible heritage of the sector.
Recall that in line with the Ministry’s strategy to increase craft exports, while strengthening local commercial dynamics, this edition of the National Crafts Week has undergone a complete overhaul of its format by integrating a new component internationally while consolidating the position of the craft product locally.
As such, several national marketing operations have been programmed, including regional craft fairs in the twelve regions of the Kingdom.
It should be noted that during this launching ceremony, the minister was accompanied by the Wali of the region, Said Ahmidouch, the Governor of the Prefecture of Arrondissements of Casablanca-Anfa, Aziz Dades, the president of the Chamber of Crafts of the Casablanca-Settat region, Jalila Morsli, and several other personalities.
