Egypt sack Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz
The Egyptian Football Federation announced on Sunday that it is parting with the services of national team coach, Portuguese Carlos Queiroz. The Egyptians have not accepted their non-qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
After the defeat for the 2022 World Cup qualifying matches in Qatar, the Football Association board, headed by Gamal Allam, discussed the future of the Egyptian national team coach.
The board did not wish to continue the adventure with Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, and the Federation announced the termination of the contract by mutual consent.
Queiroz had taken charge of the Pharaohs team in September 2021, and despite a strong favored team for AFCON and World Cup qualifiers, she failed to qualify for this all-important fixture.
According to members of the Federation, discussions about the future of the coach of Egypt took place in his presence as his contract expired. But the two parties failed to reach an agreement and decided not to continue negotiations and instead terminate the contract.
