Donald Trump Jr.’s Tweet About The Overturning Of Roe V. Wade Has Twitter Seething
Like his father, Donald Trump Jr. is a highly active Twitter user, frequently tweeting about current events from a far-right standpoint. Accordingly, he responded to the June 24 Supreme Court decision by tweeting, “REMINDER: The libs crying today about ‘my body, my choice’ because they’re big mad that they might not be able to kill babies on demand, are the same radicals who wanted a forced nationwide covid vaccine mandate on all Americans to be able to get a job & provide for your family.”
Though the former first son’s statement got more than 29,000 likes, it also drew fire from opponents who didn’t mince words. Many replied with editorial cartoons pointing out that the same people who oppose abortion are often equally opposed to government assistance for low-income mothers. One follower retorted, “Sorry, Junior, you are the radical one, the majority of the United States wants our Senate to codify Roe v. Wade.” A commenter pointed out the “flawed” comparison in Don Jr.’s message. “Abortion isn’t contagious. COVID is highly contagious and therefore needs to be controlled.”
Then there was one woman who spoke from experience. “As a teen mom, let me be the one to educate you,” she said. “Taxpayers paid completely for the birth, my housing, food, etc because I couldn’t afford to do so. So be prepared for the impact this has on every family who pays taxes now because you will pay for this decision.”
