Canadiens’ Carey Price to travel to New York for medical evaluations
Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price wasn’t scheduled to travel with the team to New York ahead of Wednesday night’s game against the New York Rangers.
But on Tuesday, the Canadiens announced that Price would be flying to the Big Apple but for medical reasons. The netminder will be undergoing medical evaluations.
“It’s tough to tell, he will continue to get evaluated so it’s tough to comment on that before we get all the information,” said Canadiens interim coach Martin St. Louis. “I’m happy that he was able to play but we’ll see what the next few days will bring.”
Price came back after missing most of the season due to a knee injury. He last played in the Habs’ 6-3 loss away to the Ottawa Senators last Saturday, allowing six goals on 36 shots.
“I thought it was a big plus for him to fight and get back from dealing with his injury,” St. Louis said. “But we knew that him playing, we knew that is it wasn’t going to be smooth sailing. We knew there were possibilities and I think that’s where we’re at and that’s why he’s getting looked at.”
Price had yet to find a win in four games since coming back between the pipes. Montreal’s franchise goalie has an 0-4-0 record with a .853 save percentage and 4.04 goals-against average this season.
