Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. named to All-MLB First Team
On Thursday night, the Toronto Blue Jays first baseman was named to the All-MLB First Team as the league’s top performer at the position.
Guerrero led all first basemen in WAR, as calculated by FanGraphs, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging and doubles while finishing top-five in RBIs and home runs.
He finished the year with a .323/.396/.544 slash line with 44 doubles, 30 home runs, 103 RBIs and 5.5 WAR.
This is the second time the 25-year-old has earned a spot on the All-MLB First Team after receiving the honour in 2021. He was also awarded his second-career American League Silver Slugger Award on Tuesday.
MLB introduced the teams in 2019.
The teams are chosen through vote, with 50 per cent coming from fans and the other 50 per cent coming from a panel of experts.
It is the eighth individual season in Blue Jays franchise history to be placed on one of the All-MLB teams, with Kevin Gausman last earning a spot on the Second Team in 2023.
