AUI: Extension of the collaborative and digital learning program dedicated to schools in the Ifrane region
As part of the promotion of education and excellence and with a view to democratizing access to information and communication technologies (ICT), Al Akhawayn University (AUI) through its Center for learning technologies (CLT) and Global Alliance for Africa (GAA) have partnered with the Ministry of National Education – Provincial Delegation of Ifrane and the CITI association to provide collaborative and digital learning programs to primary and secondary schools from the Ifrane region.
The pilot phase was carried out in 2021 in three schools in the Ifrane region with a training program for 20 teachers from Al Farabi college in Souk El Had, Omar Bnouabdel Aziz college in Timahdit and Center Azrou for the teaching program. non-formal education.
After this first successful deployment, the program was extended, at the end of March 2022, to four additional schools, including two middle schools and two primary schools in Azrou and Ain Lahnache. An event marked by the presence of the president of Al Akhawayn University, the pasha of the city of Azrou, the provincial director of the Ministry of National Education of Ifrane, the representative and the coordinator of the project “Global Alliance for Africa »,
This program includes the donation of 100 tablets with their accessories (a total of 25 tablets per school), 4 SMART TVs, batteries, chargers, 4 storage cabinets and a one-year Internet subscription.
To succeed in delivering the necessary skills, the CITI association of Al Akhawayn University again provided training for the benefit of 20 instructors by introducing them to OneNote Class Notebooks and Office 365 applications and their various educational uses. In addition, students from the Lion’s Al Akhawayn club support the program by providing training sessions on the use of tablets as well as online and on-site tutoring services.
It should be noted that during the pilot phase, the schools benefited, among other things, from a subscription to the MathScan software, a platform powered by artificial intelligence (AI) provided by MATHSCAN, making it possible to offer a learning experience fast, intuitive and efficient. This solution will be generalized to all the schools concerned.
Quarterly assessments of program progress, including a full breakdown of the number of students in the program as well as assessment of the effectiveness of learning outcomes at each school, will be provided to ensure optimal program focus and make adjustments if necessary.
This initiative is part of Al-Akhawayn’s desire to facilitate the access of students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds to the quality education necessary to improve their future educational and employment opportunities, in accordance with the Kingdom’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
