76ers’ Embiid: Rivers should tell Harden to shoot more vs. Raptors

After his team’s listless performance in a Game 5 loss against the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid voiced his frustration about the way James Harden is playing.

When asked about Harden taking only 11 shots in a 103-88 loss on Monday, Embiid was asked if the marquee mid-season acquisition should be attempting more shots.

“I’ve been saying all season since he got here, he needs to be aggressive and he needs to be himself,” Embiid said.

“That’s not really my job, that’s probably on coach (Doc Rivers) to talk to him and tell him to take more shots — especially if they’re going to guard me the way they’ve been guarding. But that’s really not my job.”

Harden was 4-for-11 with 15 points in the loss.

Earlier Monday, the NBA fined Embiid for comments he made after a Game 4 loss in which he criticized referees.

The five-time all-star showed his displeasure towards referees Scott Foster, Ed Malloy and Rodney Mott with a mocking applause as he left the court following the 76ers’ 110-102 loss.

“I admire the job that they did today,” Embiid told reporters after the game. “To me, it felt like they had one job coming in here tonight and they got it done. So congrats to them.”
