2022 World Snooker Championship prize money: How much money does the winner make and what is the 147 bonus?
The 2022 World Snooker Championship begins in Sheffield, England on April 16 at the Crucible Theatre.
There will be 32 players competing to be champion and, as well as the honour of winning the event, there will be a healthy pay packet with a total of £2.395 million in money to be spread among the players.

What is the prize money for hitting a 147?
A 147 is the maximum score in a snooker frame and happens when a player pots all 15 red balls followed by 15 blacks, then clears all six colours off the table.
There is a £40,000 prize for any player who hits a 147 during the main championship action from April 16 to May 2. They would also very likely get an additional £15,000 for highest break in the event as only once, in 2008, has there been more than one 147 in the same World Championship. That year, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Ali Carter both did it.
Has there already been a 147 at the 2022 World Snooker Championship?
Yes, there has — in the preliminary rounds. Graeme Dott, champion in 2004, hit a maximum in his third-round qualifying match win over Pang Junxu.

Has Graeme Dott already won the highest break prize at the 2022 World Snooker Championship?
He could well have done despite failing to qualify for the main draw, Dott having been beaten 10-8 by Jamie Clarke on Wednesday.
The highest break competition includes qualifying matches being played at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, so Dott’s 147 puts him in a very strong position to claim the £15,000.
He would have to share the money if someone else goes on to hit a 147 during the coming two weeks of action, so the Scot may have a nervous couple of weeks!

In the main draw, there have been 11 maximum breaks, with O’Sullivan and Hendry leading the way with three each.
